A smaller starting point
When I began Hygge Power, home backup was usually framed as a large project: major equipment, major installation, major decision. I kept returning to a smaller question. What if useful resilience could begin closer to the outlet and the device?
That perspective did not remove the need for larger systems. It created another layer—distributed storage, sensing, communication, and control that could understand individual loads and coordinate them.
From object to system
An intelligent outlet-level node is more valuable when it can see power conditions, learn from usage, share information, and act with other nodes. The product idea therefore became a system architecture.
That work led to issued patents covering power management and outage mitigation, and later to CO-Z software that translated energy signals into household-facing information.
The opportunity now
Homes contain more electronics, more distributed energy resources, and more flexible loads than when the work began. Grid conditions are more visible, yet household decisions are still fragmented across products and programs.
Hygge Power's next chapter is to apply the architecture and experience where it creates genuine value: licensing, product collaboration, focused pilots, and practical household tools.
