Capacity is not the first question
Storage capacity is easy to compare and easy to misunderstand. A large number on a product page says little about whether the system fits your priorities, your wiring, or the duration you care about.
Start with three questions: what needs power, how much does it use over time, and how long must it operate? Only then does a capacity target become meaningful.
Duty cycles change the result
Many appliances do not draw their rated power continuously. Refrigerators cycle. Heating and cooling loads respond to weather. Batteries and inverters lose energy during conversion. Temperature and age can also affect available capacity.
A responsible estimate includes reserve and clearly states what it leaves out. False precision is not sophistication; useful assumptions are.
Compare pathways, not just products
A renter protecting a router, laptop, light, and small medical device may need a portable path. A homeowner protecting a well pump or selected circuits may need a partial-home design. Extended whole-home operation is a professional system question.
The right answer is the smallest safe pathway that accomplishes the household's objective with room for real-world variation.
